Cococa Brown, Having the "Tan" of my life !!!

Back in college in 2012 we had all decided as a class to attend the Beauty show, This was my first time as such a huge event with so many Brands. I wandered around in awe at everything. I was only in college a month at the time so everything Beauty was still so new to me.

We took our time wandering around trying samples of products and one of the girls saw the Cocoa Brown stand, Now I had no clue what Cocoa Brown was, I don't think she did either but she knew the girl working on the stand so we headed over that way. It was a really small stand compared to some others and not many people were crowded around it there was 2 of us and 2 others. So we had seen so many tans being pushed on us but when we saw how well this tan looked on the girl who was selling it we had at least 4 bottles each going home !!!

Well Since that day I have been absolutely HOOKED !!! I haven't used anything else since, I just feel nothing works as well for me as this.

Now Marissa Carter who is the founder of this now Worldwide Famous Brand , Is a Woman who is such an inspiration. Seriously, I follow her on everything like Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, she is such a GIRLBOSS !!!  To go from coming up with one product to having a whole range of products from different shades of tans, specialized moisturizers for tans, scrubs to remove old tans & prep the skin for more fab glowing skin AND she now has more products coming out which I am dying to try out.

I have currently been hooked on the dark shade of Cocoa Brown as it seems to last so well on my skin and I am quite sallow skinned as it is for a typical Irish girl anyway. There is no horrible curry smell from the tan it almost smells like it has a floral scent to it , it drys in seconds, Develops in an hour so no need to worry about your sheets getting destroyed in tan !! It is Paraben Free so perfect on Sensitive skin which I suffer with on my legs and it covers perfectly and finally its easy to apply so no worries about you being streaky.

Here is the Dark shade on myself I applied last night, this is after it was showered off. How flawless is it !!!

So that is my review of Cocoa Brown I have loved it from the start, If you haven't tried it get to your local Pennys (Primark) or Local Pharmacy & grab your bottle today :D

Happy Tanning Beauties :)

Much Love,

My Autumn Faves !

Its me again,

So Today I came across a lot of Autumn Fave Blog posts and thought why not!! I Love this time of Year its just okay to wrap up in Cardigans & Blanket Scarves & Cuddles up beside the Fire, if you don't have a proper fire I feel for you !

So here we go,

Favourite Candle: I recently decorated my room and picked up some cheap candles from Pennys (primark), The Scents are Winter Figs and Berries, I bought 2 of the large candles for like 5 euro & Usually I am a big Yankee fan but these candles Win hands down !!!

Favourite Hot Drink: Okay so I am a complete Typical Irish person when it comes to Tea, I would drink tea all day long, I don't drink coffee, I would only drink it if it was really milky and sweet but its rare if I crave a cup of Coffee , So I am definitely a Tea Fan , 2 sugars, a sup of milk and a packet of Chocolate digestives, Where could you go wrong ;)

Favourite Lipstick: This season I have been loving my Browns & Reds like hello Autumnal colours people! So my go to at the moment is MAC Velvet Teddy & MAC Cosmo. Both Lippys last for hours and are really good shades as they go with everything. I generally go for quite subtle shades for work as I don't like harsh colours on myself unless I am completely dolled up.

Favourite Clothing Item: I Picked up this gorgeous jumper in Pennys (Primark) a few weeks ago & I have fallen in love with it. The colour is so in at the moment, its a really good quality jumper & Its so snug and cosy.

Favourite Scarf: I have been loving tartan blanket scarves at the moment, Primark, New look & Boohoo are great for blanket scarves at the moment and they don't cost an arm and a leg.

So there you go Beauties, There's a few of my Autumn Faves.
I hope you liked it,

Much Love,

Mac Pro-Longwear Review

Hey Beauties ,

So I decided last week that I wanted to order some make-up online so I logged onto Brown Thomas Website & placed an order for Pro-Longwear foundation by MAC Cosmetics. This was a foundation that I had never used personally on my own skin so I thought it would be great to try it.

MAC Pro-Longwear foundation is a foundation that gives up to 15hours of wear in any weather etc, It has a light creamy consistency and it gives medium coverage.

This is my before & after pictures with Pro-longwear foundation, as you can see here my skin is not in the best condition so I cleansed, toned & moisturized with all of my Elemis Products, I then applied my primer by Mac which was Prep & Prime Skin, I then began to apply my Pro-Longwear in the shade NC20 & i was really impressed !!
I applied I translucent powder on top & added some contour from my hoola bronzer from benefit.

For my highlighter I applied Soft & gentle by MAC which I am obsessed with !

For my brows I used the Benefit Gimme Brows products which is great for filling in your brows I wouldn't suggest it for defining your brows tho as its a mascara type brush, but its great for someonw with full enough natural brows for just adding a better colour.

For my lips I just popped on some lip gloss that Ive had in my hand bag by rimmel which Ive had for a while.

Thank you for reading Beauties , Make sure you give me ideas for posts you would like to see :)

Anxiety - The Reality.

The past few months have been a real life changing experience for me, I have always been someone who sets goals, achieves what I want & if I don't I generally try again. I have always been a positive person but in the past few months I have started experiencing ANXIETY.

So what is Anxiety ?
  • In my experience of my Anxiety attacks it is usually that I get nervous of situations. I start to worry, beginning to feel faint & claustrophobic, My breathing gets deep and in the end most of the time I end up crying. These attacks are generally for no apparent reason they just come out of the blue.
  • I began to find it hard to fall asleep at night worrying about absolutely nothing. I actually get to the point where I worry about worrying if that makes sense to you all.

  • I am not the kind of person that likes to talk about my problems, I would rather sit & listen to other people & help them. I think it takes away from my problems & takes my mind off worrying for a few minutes. So NO I have not gone to see a therapist or the likes as I just don't feel I need that. I do NOT take any medication for my Anxiety as I don't believe in taking meds for everything only if I have to.
So what I have done is began to confide in someone, that someone is my boyfriend Adam who has been absolutely amazing in dealing with my anxiety as he helps calm my breathing, talks to me & helps me relax by either putting on calming music, something funny on Youtube or a classic movie on Netflix.
  • One of my worst experiences was on my holidays, I went to Brussels with Adam & found myself dealing with anxiety attacks & panic attacks as it was a country of such different culture, different mix of languages & getting lost many times made fear take over my mind & body completely. YES, Adam was with me but no matter who could have been with me It was not going to take that fear away.
I got my bearings thanks to Adam as he told me to do the following:

  • Name out 5 things you can see around you.
  • Name 4 things you can touch.
  • Name 3 things you can hear.
  • Name 2 things you can smell.
  • Name 1 thing you can taste.
This is something he found online for people dealing with Panic attacks or Anxiety & it basically grounds you and helps you get your bearings.

So my Advice is to anyone suffering from feelings like anxiety please do not sweep them to the side, Reaching out to someone can really help matters, I have only confided in Adam with my struggles, its no offence to my family or friends but I just feel he is the only one who I can be completely calm with & that's okay.

Remember always that trying to deal with things on your own is not always the best option, Don't be afraid to talk to someone, even if it seems silly in your head, saying it aloud sometimes to someone is something you need to do or at least try.

So now you all know I suffer with Anxiety & I'm okay with that.

Kayleigh's Classic Red lip & Gentle smokey eye.

So on Saturday I had a family BBQ & decided I would go with a classic red lip & a gentle smokey eye for the day's events.

Every year my family hold a BBQ in Aid of Downsyndrome Ireland as I have a little cousin Tara who has down Syndrome & as a family we like to give back to charity so we come together every year to raise what we can.

I have been off work sick for the past week so I haven't been feeling too good but I pulled myself together & decided to play around with my make up which led to a Gentle Smokey Eye & Classic red lip.

Firstly I Cleansed, Exfoliated, Toned & Moisturised my face using all Elemis products which I love & I literally swear by Elemis products as I have a very dehydrated skin & they have a range just for dehydration.

I then prepared my base so I applied the Smashbox Photofinish pore minimizing Primer which is great for combination skin types.

I moved onto my foundation which was of course Studio sculpt in NC15 using one of my Beauty Blenders(love my beauty blender!) I wear studio sculpt most of the time as I find its long lasting and in my work place the heat wears away foundation but sculpt seems to stay on all day which is always a huge Pro when it comes to purchasing foundation.

I then applied my mac translucent powder to take away any shine from my foundation as I am more of a matte finish girl !!

I filled in my brows using the sleek eyebrow pallet in Dark shade.

Eyes eyes eyes. I applied my Too Faced Shadow Insurance which is an Anti Crease eye primer, Once I applied that I moved onto my show I used my Naked Smoky Pallet to do a gently silver/grey eye , mac blackattack liner and added some eylure lashes & I placed a small bit of Mac soft & gentle powder to highlight the inner corner of my eyes.

I lined my lips using a random lip liner from rimmel which I have so long but love & then finished off with Mac Viva Glam Lippy .

I then sprayed Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray to keep everything in place for the day's events.

So that's my make up look from the weekend I hope you all enjoyed reading it & if you would like see more of my make up let me know in the comments below.

Have a great day Beauties.

The Real Facts of The Beauty Industry

Hey Beauties !!! :)

Today I was speaking to a lovely girl I know who will be starting Beauty Therapy in college this September. She has a lot of questions to ask me as she was quite nervous about the Beauty industry although it is something she has always wanted.

So I said I would do a blog post on life as a Beauty student & entering the beauty world once you have graduated.

1. "You don't need to finish school/pass your leaving cert to do beauty"- Ouch !!!

- That sentence has to be the most hurtful thing to anyone in the Beauty Industry. Depending on the qualification you wish to get & the quality of the college you want to attend you will 99% of the time you need your leaving cert exams. One of the main modules in Beauty therapy is Anatomy & Physiology. In my first year of college I had the exact same book for Anatomy & physiology as my cousin who was in her first year of Nursing in Trinity college. I would suggest a knowledge of Biology if you're wanting to go on to do Beauty of any sort.

2. How long is a Beauty Therapy course & where did you study?

- I studied in LA College of Creative Arts in Dublin City. LA are an international college located in Dublin , London & Los Angeles, so if you live in London or Los Angeles check it out too! http://www.lacollegeofcreativearts.com/
-I studied for 1 year full time, it was a Monday-Friday course where we learned everything from facials, waxing, make up, nails , massage, body & facial electricals etc etc. In the near future I plan to go back to LA to update my make up skills & cant wait to do so.

3. Was the course expensive?
-Define expensive... In my opinion nothing is expensive if the outcome is going to be worth it & you put in the effort. My course "cost a lot of money" but I wouldn't of said it was "Expensive" as I Graduated with distinctions, have worked in 2 of Irelands leading Spas & freelance too. So it pays to attend a college with a good reputation & that gives you good qualifications.

4. When you graduated was it hard to get into the working world?
-YES !!! When I graduated I found it very hard to get work, I moved to London where I worked for a short time but it was temporary work so I ended up returning home. Thankfully my qualifications & college results got me out there & I started working in "The Spa" in Johnstown house hotel in Enfield Co.Meath where I was trained up in all Elemis Products & gained amazing experience working with top trainers, working on VIP's & gaining a huge confidence in my selling of products, I worked there for a year & moved jobs to a spa closer to home in The River Spa in The Knightsbrooke hotel in Trim Co.Meath which is known  as a haven of relaxation, where products are exclusive & Is known for its long standing reputation. In the River Spa I have worked with Ytsara - An organic thai products, Comfort Zone- A luxurious Italian Skin care for the face, body & soul that gives immediate & progressive results combining the best of science & nature. Sundari is the final product we use in The River Spa the word "Sundari" means "a Beautiful woman" these products are also formulated with only organic ingredients. I have gained a lot of experience in a short space of time & I would never look back or change my career.

5. Tips for getting a job?
-Work for free for experience during your college duration. Have a very clear CV showing what you will be/are qualified in & that you do actually have an interest in Beauty Therapy because if you turn up for an interview and come across as not interested in the industry your employer will notice that vibe. Dress as if you are the employer, you want this job don't you ? Then act like it ! Neat hair , I suggest a neat bun, Natural day make up, Wear black or something on the lines of a uniform like a tunic with no logo & some smart shoes. Its all about First impressions so never forget that.

6. Believe in Yourself !
- Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you've come. Remember everything you faced to get to where you are. The strongest factor for success is self-esteem; Believing you can do it and believing you'll get to where you want to be!

I hope this has helped, If any of you future Beauty Therapists have any further questions please comment below & Ill be happy to help.

Have a fab day Beauties :)
