Using an SPF everyday ?

So I'm sure you are all aware that we should wear an SPF (sun protection factor) daily. Its actually a little scary what skipping the step of an SPF can do to our skins. This post is not to terrify you all but just to educate you all on what we should be doing to protect our skins.

SPF is actually the best form of an Anti-ager which helps prevent early signs of aging.
We all have this misconception that you only need to wear Sun creams on holidays or if you're that unfortunate soul that burns to a crisp just by looking at the sun.

You may be cautious to the fact that you don't want to burn but, UV rays are strong all year round and can harm the skin no matter what the weather. Constant exposure can result in breaking down the elastin in your skin, elastin is what makes our skin plump and young looking. The most important time to protect the skin is actually in your teens & early 20s as once we hit our mid 20s our skin is already aging so its important to keep it protected while we are younger. This does not mean that once you hit your mid 20s you stop protecting it... Always protect that skin !!!

The SPF in our foundations is not ever enough to protect the skin so always apply a base spf under your spf, no it will not affect the application of your foundation.

So, as we all start preparing for holidays this year, whether its a Sunny beach side holiday or you're heading to the mountains to Ski, start making sure you are protecting the skin from today.

My favourite SPF to use is the "Comfort Zone Sun Soul" Range.

I hope this gave you all a little insight into how important it is to wear an Spf.
I will do more posts in more detail soon.

Much love as always,

Feed your skin from Within

SKINCARE is not just using cleansers, masks & creams or removing your make up before bed.
You need to be aware of what you are feeding your skin.
I remember growing up hearing people say "If you eat greasy foods you'll have greasy skin", Well Its actually very true. As the saying goes "You are what you eat".
Using supplements & vitamins is great & can be quite powerful in boosting your skin & keeping your complexion clear but there is nothing better than absorbing those vitamins & minerals naturally from tasty foods. Here are a few tips on foods to take in the get your skin nice and healthy.

1. Antioxidants.

Antioxidants can be found is many different foods but mainly in fruits and vegetables. These are known for keeping the skin looking fresh & younger for longer. Antioxidants are also Anti-Inflammatory meaning reducing inflammation which is great for Acne, Breakouts & Sensitivity.

What foods contain these Antioxidants?
- Goji Berries
- Pecans
- Artichokes
-Elderberries
- Kidney Beans
- Blackberries
- Cilantro

2. Healthy Fats.

Foods rich in essential fatty acids work to save your skins hydration making sure your skins barriers are strong and healthy. This promotes your skins elasticity meaning less signs of early ageing. These are also Anti -inflammatory as I mentioned above which reduce sensitivity & redness.

What foods contains these Healthy Fats?

- Salmon
-Avacados
- Olive Oil
- Nuts
- Seeds

3.Enzymes.

Our bodies naturally produce enzymes. These enzymes help our bodies digestive system break down our foods & absorb the good stuff (nutrients). Some foods contain powerful enzymes that increase the absorption. Some skin conditions can be caused by digestion problems so these enzymes are key in calming all of this.

What foods contain these Enzymes?

- Pineapples
-Figs
-Papaya
- Asparagus
- Spinach

4.Hydration

A huge amount of us are prone to dry/dehydrated skin. A huge reason for this is weather changes.
Dehydration of the skin can result in Sensitivity, Early signs of aging, fine lines & dullness to the skin.
Drinking water isn't always enough. Making sure to also eat your water is a great bonus to that absorption of hydration for our skin.

What foods contain Hydration?
- Avocado
- Kale
- Watermelon
- Cucumber (96% water)
- Apples
- Celery
- Grapefruit
- Tomoatoes

Making a few changes to your diet can be so beneficial to your skin. When you experience bad days with your skin always remember to try to naturally cure the problem before reaching for a mask that will probably not going to do a whole lot for you. Your body is a temple so look after it.

Invest in your skin. Its going to represent you for a long time.

I hope you found this post helpful. Please let me know what you think.
